Summer events are a great time to turn up the heat on some ideas that might have been cooking during the winter. It’s now time for event and menu designs to become all the more playful and easy going. Here are three ideas from Good Gracious! Events in Los Angeles that are seriously fun.

Heat Wave

Let summer shine on with hot, bright colors.

Add heat to an all-white color scheme with accents of Gerber daisies for color. At this event they were used liberally — on the table, attached to the trim of lamps, and even on the birthday cake. Daisies even floated inside Hula Hoops in the pool for added flare.

A library buffet in white enamel, a pave of daisies and crazy-colored macarons and cupcakes increased the temperature. This is the kind of heat we can stand!

Cooling Off

Shatter expectations of a pool party (plastic glassware, paper plates) by create a shimmering, watery look using clear glassware, glass table, glass chandelier and acrylic chairs that look like glass. Purple and teal add an icy cool ambiance. Go big with flowers. Instead of vases, add a floral runner, and small floral arrangements placed at each place setting. Finally — lighting. Bathe the table in purple lighting to make the glass glisten. At this event, deep blue lights were also used to wash the pool with color, and purple uplights were placed throughout the garden. The signature drink, a mojito, was a detail not overlooked. A dash of purple carried the evening’s color theme through.

Positively Chill

Summer is a time for BIG ideas with low-key execution. A beautiful dinner party with a look so casual you know a professional was at work, and a signature drink is the way to go. We love this limoncello “martini.” When mixed with a dash of sparkling Prosecco, limoncello, the Italian after-dinner drink, is the perfect beginning to an evening no one will want to end. And isn’t that the true objective behind entertaining in the long, hot summer?
