Uncommon Events, PA
Event Company of the Year

Summary

UNCOMMON EVENTS is a WEDDING PLANNING and DESIGN FIRM headquartered in Philadelphia, yet available anywhere. We travel to bring party happiness to any location, nationally or internationally. Melissa Brannon leads a creative team that makes unique, interesting, and not the usual type of wedding or special event. When clients hire us to PLAN their wedding or special event, we take care of everything and are there to watch it unfold. In the DESIGN arena; we create the entire guest experience for the day, from the second they walk in the event until the party lights dim at the end of the evening.

Entering into the 2014 year, we already knew it was going to be our busiest ever. We began the year with a second office in a new neighborhood, had many challenging weddings booked (all at completely different locations), a London celebration with 9 events (an enormous challenge) , presenting at CSES2014 for the first time, the third year of our own Bridal Evening of Design marketing event, and the list goes on. We are growing and managing the growth very well (helps to be a planning firm!). We have launched a new website and feel that we have embedded ourselves in our market as “THE” wedding planning and design firm in our area.

As the owner of the company, the “we” I mention above comes from my incredible team without whom, none of this would ever happen. It not only takes a village to pull off a detailed wedding but it takes the knowledge and understanding of what a couple’s most personal day means to them.

As a team we have grown, learned and enter this next year more confident and ready to take on the business at hand.

Event Showcase one

Urban Rustic Horticulture Wedding

This April bride and groom wanted a rustic urban, “homestyle” wedding. Throughout their relationship they had been avid writers of love letters to one another because of their long distance romance. We were able to incorporate their love of writing & books into the escort card table as well as their love for each other into the details of the day to create one of our most beautiful weddings.

Tons of candlelight and Edison bulbs gave the venue a romantic, urban glow. The colors were a mixture of bold & soft creating a beautiful palette for the floral landscape of the tables.

Mini milk bottles with straws and homemade cookies were displayed on our wooden swings for dessert. Ben & Jerry’s provided a really fun wedding cake with the top layer mimicking a small pint of the ice cream (complete with cows!)

There were many gorgeous elements from this wedding. These are our highlights.

Event Showcase two

Over the Top at Vie

This June Bride and

Groom wanted an over the top experience in every detail. The glitz and glam started with their save the date and continued with their incredible invitation being mailed in a hand calligraphed box. This set the tone for the guests expectations for this black tie event.

The colors chosen were perfect for the summer; coral, gray and white embellished by gold. For the reception, “Napoleon” style arm chairs were the head table seating while varying sizes of crystal chandeliers hung above reflecting the light in the 40′ long mirrored table. Gold rimmed glassware, gold flatware and gold rimmed chargers inset with round menus printed in coral, gray and gold completed the detailed look. Other table shapes were white square leather and round glass top tables (seating only 6 guests). We also used a mixture of chair styles with each table. The centerpieces, some 6′ tall, were brimming with hydrangea, garden roses, stock and peonies with a touch of fresh eucalyptus.

Every detailed was planned and orchestrated to provide an over the top experience for their guests. And it was a success!

Event Showcase three

Glow Party at WHYY

A fall Bar Mitzvah for a young gentleman who, at the age of 12, was incredibly into the details (love that!) After getting to know him, as we do with all our Bar /Bat Mitzvahs, we discovered his love of roller coasters and anything that glows neon. So, we had our theme. The venue we chose for the party was perfect. We started with an amazing fabric entrance that changed colors as the guests walked through. Lighting was our main element at this event. Luckily with lots of open truss in this industrial space we could obtain the dramatic lighting necessary. Lucite furniture & amazing futuristic centerpieces that glowed gifted us the ability to change a boring room into one with color changing movement.

The cocktail area for the children was filled with bean bag chairs that doubled as their favor. The glow in the dark escort cards were displayed from an industrial style design. The liquid from glow sticks was poured in the water of the cocktail arrangements to give a special neon glow. Roller coaster simulators were brought in to entertain the children (and some adults!). In the dinner space, the long style seating for the children was set at varying heights and clothed in spandex to mimic a roller coaster. The enormous flatscreen next to the children’s table played a custom video of his favorite roller coaster. Too many details to keep it short!
